Edward D. McCarthy
Edward D. McCarthy (1939 – 2023) was a founding member of and managing attorney at McCarthy Bouley Barry + Morgan, P.C., for many years, before becoming Of Counsel to the firm in 2018. He specialized in medical malpractice defense, product liability, and general health and hospital law. The former City Solicitor of Cambridge, Massachusetts, General Counsel to the Cambridge Public Health Commission, and author of The Malpractice Cure: How to Avoid the Legal Mistakes that Doctors Make, he was a widely sought lecturer and panelist in areas of health law.

Doug Morgan is a shareholder at McCarthy Bouley Barry + Morgan, P.C. and concentrates in medical malpractice defense, general liability and other health law litigation in Massachusetts, Maine and Rhode Island. He has been trying cases for over 35 years and tries multiple cases on behalf of individual health care providers, group practices and hospitals annually. Beginning his career in New York City, Mr. Morgan initially represented providers at the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation as part of the Special Litigation team at the New York City Law Department. Since moving to New England in 1991, he has focused exclusively on representing healthcare providers and handling medical malpractice cases and other health law-related matters. In addition to his courtroom work, Mr. Morgan also practices before the various Boards of Registration regarding licensure and patient complaint issues. He is AV-rated through Martindale-Hubbell and is also on the panel of Super Lawyers practicing in Massachusetts and New England and voted to the Best Lawyers List. He is also called upon from time to time to speak at Grand Rounds, legal and medical symposia as well as other forums.

Rebecca G. Capozzi

Rebecca is a Shareholder at McCarthy Bouley Barry + Morgan, P.C., where she specializes in medical malpractice defense and the representation of healthcare providers before various state licensing boards. She is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and Maine, as well as the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Rebecca started her career as judicial law clerk with the Superior Court of Massachusetts, where she assisted the judges in legal research and the drafting of opinions. After completion of her clerkship, Rebecca joined the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office in Boston, where she spent several years as an Assistant District Attorney. As an ADA, Rebecca tried over 30 cases in both District and Superior Court, and ultimately focused on the prosecution of juvenile offenders and crimes against children. Prior to starting at McCarthy Bouley Barry + Morgan, P.C., Rebecca was an associate at a healthcare law firm in Boston.
Rebecca is a proud graduate of Bowdoin College and Northeastern University School of Law.

Amy is a shareholder at McCarthy Bouley Barry + Morgan, P.C. and a highly experienced trial attorney specializing in complex litigation. She dedicated sixteen years to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, culminating in her last seven years as a member of the Homicide Unit. During this time, Amy expertly managed numerous high-profile murder cases, demonstrating exceptional legal acumen, courtroom advocacy, sensitivity, and outstanding organizational abilities. Throughout her public service career, she successfully tried over 80 cases to verdict. Amy joined the firm in 2019 and has focused her practice on representing medical providers, corporations, and large hospitals/medical centers. She has extensive experience in defending against a wide range of medical malpractice claims, including cases involving failure or delay in diagnosis, wrongful death, and incorrect site or side procedures. In addition, Amy represents clients in premises liability, licensing board and other government agency investigations, general liability claims, and criminal defense matters.

Jenny Pistrang is an associate attorney at McCarthy Bouley Barry + Morgan, where she represents healthcare providers in medical malpractice defense and other health law matters. She litigates at the trial court and appellate court levels in federal and state courts throughout Massachusetts.
Jenny has significant experience as a civil and commercial litigator, including medical professional liability defense, commercial disputes, tort and general liability, contract and business disputes, fiduciary litigation, unfair business practices, declaratory judgment actions, and suits in equity. Businesses and individuals also seek Jenny’s counsel in responding to, complying with, or properly objecting to subpoenas for documents or testimony.

Kristy L. Rivers

Kristy L. Rivers is an Associate Attorney at McCarthy Bouley Barry + Morgan, P.C., where she specializes in medical malpractice defense. She is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, Maine, Florida, and the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts.
Kristy began her career providing indigent representation in Florida, and prior to joining MBBM she served as one of the first Assistant Defenders in the State of Maine helping to develop a centralized indigent representation system in the state. She has tried numerous criminal cases and has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in pending civil litigation.
Kristy received her Juris Doctor degree here in Boston from Suffolk University Law School, where she was honored to be chosen to deliver the 2016 commencement speech to her graduating class.
Kristy feels incredibly fortunate to be able to build her civil practice here in Massachusetts.

Hope has been a litigation paralegal for 40 years & has specialized in medical malpractice for the past 36 years. She is a graduate of the Institute for Paralegal Training in Philadelphia and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College in Buffalo. She has written a chapter on pretrial preparation in Massachusetts Paralegal Practice Manual and has given a presentation at a MCLE seminar entitled Analyzing Medical Records for the Massachusetts Paralegal. She currently resides in New Hampshire and is an avid football and basketball fan.
